![]() Allergy Testing
Patch tests - are most commonly used to investigate contact
dermatitis. Common triggers include fragrances, nickel, and preservatives.
The chemicals are available as patches arranged along adhesive strips.
In this painless procedure, the strips are applied to the back and are
removed after two days, during which time they must stay dry. The area
is examined after two and four days.Allergen-specific IgE blood tests (RAST) - are useful when skin testing is impossible or skin tests are inconclusive. After a blood sample is taken, the level of allergen-specific IgE (an immunoglobulin associated with allergic reaction) produced is measured in a laboratory. We do not perform scratch testing for inhaled environmental allergies, but we are pleased to work with your allergist, or will be glad to make a referral when appropriate. See also:
